Thieves Target Downtown Construction Equipment

The following information was provided by the Kent Police Department. It does not indicate conviction.

Two fairly large pieces of construction equipment were reported stolen recently from a downtown construction site.

No, we're not talking backhoes or bulldozers, but we are talking barricades — big ones.

Messer Construction, the firm building the new , reported a street barricade with a sign reading "Road Closed" was stolen in late March. The barricade was taken around March 30 from the area of Haymaker Parkway and South DePeyster Street. The sign is valued at $500.

An orange construction barrel with its rubber base also was reported stolen by Messer Construction on April 13 from the area of East Erie Street. The barrel is valued at $150.
