Suspect Arrested in Silver Meadows Shooting
Dustin Dent was arraigned this morning on a charge of attempted murder of 17-year-old boy.
A suspect has been arrested in during an early morning incident last Wednesday in the Silver Meadows neighborhood.
Dustin A. Dent, 24, who police refer to as homeless, turned himself in late Saturday evening to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office in Medina, where he was picked up by and returned to Kent.
Dent was arraigned this morning in on a charge of
attempted murder. He is currently being held at the Portage County
jail on a $500,000 bond.

Kent Police Capt. Jayme Cole said an investigation led Kent Police to obtain a warrant for Dent’s arrest late last week.
A search of Dent's name in Portage County Court online records show numerous entries dating to 2006 reflecting he has lived in Streetsboro, Bedford Heights and on Anita and Lawrence drives in Kent, which are in the Silver Meadows neighborhood.

Kent Police had arrested Dent on May 12 on charges of having weapons under disability, a felony, aggravated menacing, endangering children and domestic violence.
He was found guilty of the aggravated menacing charge, while the others were dismissed May 18 on a motion by the prosecutor. At the time, Dent's address was listed as 921 Lawrence Drive, Apt. 104, Kent.
He was listed as homeless when arrested again by Kent Police May 26 on a charge of criminal damaging related to the resident of the Lawrence Drive apartment.
His latest court record shows a home address of 9247 Briar Drive in Streetsboro, but police refer to him as homeless.
