Power Service Unaffected After Fire at Kent State Power Plant

Classes resume today

Both classes and power service were uninterrupted today after a fire late Thursday night at Kent State University's power plant, the Associated Press reported.

University officials issued a Flashline alert Thursday advising the campus community of the fire at the plant, which is located at the corner of Summit Street and Ted Boyd Drive, and urging people to avoid the area.

Shortly after 1 a.m. today university officials issued another alert stating the fire was under control and evacuation orders for the nearby Liquid Crystal Institute and Math building had been lifted.
