Peekskill police have identified the man killed during an altercation that took place Friday morning on South Street.
Alexander Rochester, 23, of Peekskill, was killed Friday morning in Peekskill after he was stabbed to death by Sunil Williams, 29, of Mount Vernon, in the area of South and Washington streets.
Rochester, who recently moved to the area from the Bronx, was stabbed at about 10:30 a.m. in the vicinity of the Platinum barbershop, located on 629 South St.
Police said Rochester and the barbershop’s owner, Maurice Walker, 32, of Peekskill, got into a fight that morning and Williams jumped in to help Walker. Williams stabbed Rochester before fleeing the scene.
Rochester was pronounced dead at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor.
Police said Rochester and Walker were involved in an ongoing dispute involving a mutual female acquaintance.
Walker eventually turned himself in to police. He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony, for having a fake state barber’s license.
Williams was discovered a short while later, hiding at a residence on Elm Street, and charged with second-degree murder.
