Roosevelt student charged with assault

A student at faces an assault charge after hitting another student at the school, according to a report.

Officers charged Kyle D. Barber, 18, of Kent, Feb. 3 after a fight at the school. He was arrested at 12:30 and pleaded not guilty later that day to the assault charge, which is a first-degree misdemeanor.

A pretrial hearing is set for March 15 in the case before Portage County Municipal Court Judge Kevin Poland.

A Cleveland man faces a drug trafficking charge after Kent police arrested him for dealing pot on the campus.

Police arrested Terrance D. Kimbro, Jr., 20, of Cleveland, shortly before 2 a.m. Feb. 5 in the area of the Allerton Apartments complex on Campus Centre Drive, according to a police report.

Kimbro is charged with trafficking marijuana, a fifth-degree felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, and driving under suspension. A preliminary hearing is set before Poland on Feb. 25.

Theft, burglary

A Kent resident reported thieves broke into their home in the 100 block of West Summit Street Feb. 2 and stole $50 in quarters, an iPhone and a PlayStation2 with two controllers. The electronics were valued at more than $200.

A Silver Meadows Boulevard resident reported a theft from their car Jan. 31. A "Whistler" radar detector and a TomTom global positioning device valued at $300 were reported stolen.
