PHOTOS: 'Ride for 9-11' Firefighters Welcomed in Kent

Stop in the Tree City is part of 3,300-mile trip honoring the 343 firefighters killed in the Sept. 11 attacks

A group of California firefighters cycling from the West Coast to New York City for the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks stopped in Kent Tuesday afternoon.

It was one of the biggest, warmest receptions the firefighters have had on their 3,300-mile trip, which started in California July 24.

The stop in Kent came about because is one of the firefighters making the trek to New York.

The riders are scheduled to leave for Pittsburgh this morning after staying the night in Kent. They plan to arrive in New York City on Sept. 9 and finish the ride at the FDNY Firefighters Wall. The full route can be traced here.
