One Man Arrested in Silver Meadows Robbery

Second suspect remains at large

One man has been arrested in a gunpoint robbery in the Silver Meadows Apartment complex one month ago.

Kent police arrested Marid B. Asefi, 22, of Akron, and charged him in the near 1214 Anita Drive.

The woman told police she was approached by two men on a Sunday afternoon who asked for a cigarette. The men then flashed a gun, demanded her purse and fled into the complex.

The woman told police one of the suspects held a black handgun to her head.

Kent police arrested Asefi Monday, but they filed a criminal complaint against him and got a warrant for his arrest one day after the crime. The second suspect remains at-large.

Asefi was arraigned by Portage County Municipal Court Judge Kevin Poland Monday and ordered held on a $100,000 bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Friday morning.
