Neighbor Complaint Leads to $80,000 Marijuana Arrest

The Portage County Drug Task Force investigated the complaint about a 10-year-old child.

It's a bad idea to grow marijuana illegally, but having a child in the home at the time is worse.

A neighbor, concerned about the 10-year-old child living in a Kent home with two men, reported their concerns about the child, prompting an investigation, according to our partners at WEWS NewsChannel 5.

The Portage County Drug Task Force got a search warrant and searched the Kent home Tuesday. They have charged Shawn Mitchell and Michael Genovese with illegally growing marijuana in the vicinity of a juvenile, according to NewsChannel 5.

When searching the basement of the home, the task force confiscated 80 marijuana plants worth $80,000 and other materials used to grow marijuana plants indoors. The Portage County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing the case and may file additional charges.

Here's some hints that your neighbor might be growing marijuana.
