Missing Man's Remains Found

A search dog team found the 45-year-old's body in Deerfield Township, reports our partners at News Channel 5.

Portage County sheriff’s deputies believe the remains of a 45-year-old Norton man, who went missing over a month ago, have been found. 

Sheriff’s deputies said Jeffrey Hathaway’s remains were discovered around 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the Berlin Reservoir Wildlife Area on Fewtown Road in Deerfield Township, according to our partners at WEWS News Channel 5

Deputies said the Big Creek Search Dog Team was training in the area when the dogs stumbled upon the remains.

Hathaway had been missing since May 15. Then on May 17 his car was found near the dog training area of the Berlin Lake Wildlife, which is not far from where the remains were located.

The remains were taken to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office for an official identification and cause of death.
