Kent State Student Robbed at Knifepoint

Second armed robbery to occur on campus this month

A student was robbed at knifepoint Sunday evening in a parking lot behind the university library. It was the second armed robbery to occur on campus this month.

Kent State University Police report that the incident happened at about 9:10 p.m. in the R-6 lot off Eastway Drive, near Manchester Hall. The victim was not injured. Police said the suspects, both white males, ran from the library area east toward Deweese Health Center.

According to police, the first suspect is described as a white male about 5’11” or taller wearing a red puffy coat, a dark knit cap pulled down over his hair and neck, dark knit gloves and dark pants and shoes. Police said the second suspect is also a white male, about 5’9”, wearing a dark gray ski coat, dark cloth gloves, a knit cap pulled down over his hair and neck and dark pants and shoes.

Students and staff were sent a “campus safety warning” alert regarding the robbery through the Flashline notification system just after 11 p.m. Sunday. The message stated that university police would continue to have a patrol presence in the area.

Kent State police are seeking assistance in locating the suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call the department at 330-672-3070.

The occurred Feb. 5 in the parking lot of the now closed Harbourt Hall near the Kent State Ice Arena. with using a handgun to rob two Kent State students.

The two armed robberies follow earlier this year.
