Grant Summer reportedly assaulted a woman at her Ohio State University dormitory

A Kent State University student has been arrested after reportedly assaulting a woman at her Ohio State University dormitory this weekend.

Grant Summer, 19, of Minerva, was arrested Friday and charged with kidnapping and aggravated burglary by Ohio State University police. He was arraigned in a Columbus court room on the first-degree felony burglary charge and second-degree felony kidnapping charge Monday.

Summer reportedly showed up at the woman's dorm room and threatened her, Columbus TV station WSYX reported.

WSYX quoted Franklin County Assistant Prosecutor Lindsay Miller as having told a judge Summer "showed up in her apartment with rope, as well as a hammer in his backpack ... he indicated he was going to use the rope to tie her up and have sex with her."

When reached by phone, Miller said she was unauthorized to speak to the media about the case.

Summer is a student at the Kent State University Stark campus, where he is a freshman exploratory major.

Kent State spokesperson Emily Vincent said in an email Summer is being served an interim suspension.

"The president has the authority to do that based on the fact Summer was arrested and the details of that arrest," she said. "Summer will be given his due process through student conduct (court)."

Summer has a preliminary hearing on the charges in Columbus April 19.
