Kent Man Charged with Making Meth

A Kent man has been charged with making methamphetamine near a school by the Portage County Drug Task Force.

Dennis Haworth, 43, of 525 Park Ave., was arrested Friday by the task force on charges of illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine, a first-degree felony, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office.

Haworth was arrested in Ravenna, OH along with Christina Guy, 36, who also is a Ravenna resident, at 115 N. Scranton St., Ravenna, where the manufacturing took place, according to the sheriff's office.

Drug task force agents arrested Haworth as part of a four-month investigation into Guy's actions that culminated with a warrant for her arrest for “Prohibition Concerning the Purchasing of Pseudoephedrine,” an ingredient in methamphetamine.

Haworth was arraigned on the felony charge Monday in Portage County Common Pleas court. His bond was set at $10,000, according to court records.

His case is set for a preliminary hearing today.

Portage County Drug Task Force is comprised of members from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, Portage County Prosecutor’s Office, Cities of Aurora, Kent and Streetsboro, Villages of Garrettsville and Windham, United States Drug Enforcement Administration and United States Department of Homeland Security.
