Kent 9/11 Ceremony Set for Sept. 8

Police, fire and religious leaders will mark anniversary Thursday in Home Savings Plaza

Kent will honor the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on Thursday, Sept. 8, in Home Savings Plaza.

Leaders from the , and several area churches will lead a ceremony starting at 6:15 p.m. to remember the nearly 3,000 people killed during the attacks 10 years ago.

The ceremony, expected to last 30 minutes, will include an honor guard from the Kent fire department and music from the Western Reserve Community Band. The band will give a full performance starting at 7 p.m.

Both Kent Fire Chief James Williams and Kent Police Chief Michelle Lee will make brief remarks.
