A 20-year-old Fairview Park woman was taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital Tuesday after rolling off the hood of a moving car.

A 20-year-old Fairview Park woman was hospitalized at 12:09 p.m. Tuesday after being struck by an elderly driver on Summit Street.

According to Kent Police Lt. Jim Prusha, the 71-year-old Kent woman was driving eastbound on Summit and hit the young woman while turning into the Hickory Mills Apartments.

That's it! When you hit 65, no more driving for you!

Hate to tell you, but the US counts you as being old or elderly at 65, so.... put that in your hippie pipe and smoke it.

This crash did not have to happen. Keeping Us Safe is a national organization (headquartered here in NE Ohio) that provides practical, real-life solutions to older drivers and their families. "Beyond Driving with Dignity; The workbook for older drivers and their families" serves as the foundation of our family-centered "Beyond Driving with Dignity" program. For families that might benefit from third-party, impartial intervention in resolving this very delicate and sensitive issue, we offer you our Certified "Beyond Driving with Dignity" professionals. These individuals have been specially trained and certified in the "Enhanced Self-Assessment Program" for older drivers. Keeping Us Safe was established in 2008 by a retired State Trooper that still has a passion for preventing highway fatalities. The "Beyond Driving with Dignity" program is designed to help older drivers with diminishing driving skills make a smooth transition from the driver's seat to the passenger seat without deterioration to their dignity, personal pride or independence. Our programs are designed to save lives while simultaneously helping to ease the burden of the family as they find themselves faced with this very challenging issue. For more information on our programs, or to learn more about becoming one of the Nation’s Certified “Beyond Driving with Dignity” Professionals, visit Keeping Us Safe at http://www.keepingussafe.org or call us toll free at 877-907-8841.

I must tell you that students cross the street and never look and I am not surprised to hear one has been hit. I am grateful this young women was not killed. I work 20 hours a week and I drive every where--I am careful and never drive at night --but I do not consider myself elderly--not at 65.

As the driver was turning into Hickory Mills Apartments I'd suspect that the pedestrian was indeed on the sidewalk and had the right of way.

In Ohio, pedestrians have the right of way. Yay!

"Elderly is over 80 not over 65." Too bad FACTS do not jive with your opinion. But, I'm sure you play the "senior card" in an attempt to get as many "senior discounts" as possible.
