New drop box lets residents get rid of unwanted, old medications

The Kent Police Department has a new drop box where residents can dispose of unwanted prescription medications and other similar drugs.

The department installed a drop box behind the police station at 319 S. Water St. this week.

The box lets residents get rid of unused or expired medications anonymously.

  • Prescription and over the counter solid dosage medications, i.e. tablets & capsules are accepted. 
  • Intra­venous solutions, injections and needles will not be accepted. 
  • Illicit substances auch as marijuana or methamphetamine are not part of this initiative.

The drop-off box is a partnership with the Portage County Solid Waste Management District.
