Driver Charged in Hit-Skip Accident Involving Kent State Students

Danyelle Hall of Streetsboro faces felony charge after January crash downtown

A Streetsboro woman has been charged with a felony hit-skip driving offense following that involved two Kent State University students.

Kent Police charged Danyelle Hall, 29, with hitting two pedestrians on South Water Street outside on Jan. 15 and fleeing the scene. The accident happened at about 2 a.m.

Hall struck Cassandra Norrid and Abby M. Allen as they were crossing South Water Street on foot, according to the Kent Police accident report. Norrid suffered a broken femur and was transported to Akron City Hospital by the . Allen sustained minor injuries.

Both Norrid and Allen are listed as seniors in 's online student directory.

Kent Police Lt. Paul Canfield said investigators are unsure if alcohol played a factor in the crash because Hall fled the scene and was not interviewed by police until the next day.

Canfield said police caught Hall thanks to a tip from one of her two passengers.

"One of the occupants of the vehicle contacted us to let us know about the incident," he said.

Hall was charged April 5 and was set to appear before Portage County Municipal Court Judge Barb Oswick Friday.
