$3,000 Raised for Don Beckett Memorial Scholarship

Fairways at Twin Lakes owner presents check for polar plunge fundraiser

Those who braved the icy waters of East Twin Lake recently helped raise $3,000 for the Don Beckett Memorial Scholarship.

The Fairways at Twin Lakes played host to the inaugural Polar Bear Plunge Feb. 24 when dozens of people jumped into the bone-chilling waters for $5 apiece to support the scholarship, which is awarded on a yearly basis to one Roosevelt High School graduate with a fervent interest in the medical field.

David Beck, owner of The Fairways, presented a $3,000 check to Heidi Beckett and Kent Fire Chief Dave Manthey Wednesday.
