Former Kent State University Coach Dies of Heart Attack at 39

Aaron Alford was also a graduate assistant at Kent State University in the late 90s.

Aaron Alford died Monday morning reportedly of a heart attack at the age of 39. 

Alford was a former Kent resident, Kent Roosevelt graduate and Kent State University assistant coach. He also coached for Southern Utah, Western Illinois, Wyoming and the University of Akron. 

In 1998, Alford was a graduate assistant at Kent State, reports the Record-Courier.

He was most recently a coach and athletic director for Park City in Utah. The Deseret News reported Alford suffered the heart attack in his office.

His son, Eli, is part of the Park City program.

"(It) makes it even harder to deal with because he's a great kid," Park City coach Mike Shepherd told the Deseret News. "We've got him to take care of as well. There are a lot of devastated teenagers right now. We're going to have to rally around them and see if we can work our way through this. "
