With Your Backing, Taking Kent State to the U.N.

Dear Kent State Truth & Justice Supporter,

The Kent State Truth Tribunal is now in its fourth year and we are excited to report an extraordinary new development. The United Nations Human Rights Committee has invited us to submit a testimony for its hearing in Geneva on October 17th and 18th. The aim of the hearing is to establish the failure of the United States to initiate a credible, impartial and independent hearing into the Kent State massacre, which places it in potential violation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, a fundamental human rights treaty. This is our chance to place Kent State in an international context and to shine a new light on the events of 1970 as part of a pattern of human right violations.

I am writing for your help to support the Kent State Truth Tribunal (KSTT) so that we may travel to Geneva for the hearing and publicize this extraordinary opportunity for accountability. In this fundraising email, KSTT hopes to raise $35,000 to enable our participation and defray travel costs to/from Geneva as well begin to catalogue the production of 80+ Kent State Truth Tribunal testimonial videos in a database. As of September 26th, we have $3,000 in our kitty.

BACKGROUND

May 4, 1970 at Kent State University was a seminal, watershed moment for global citizens, especially Vietnam War resisters and Americans coming of age in the 60's. On that fateful day, four students were shot to death while nine others were wounded by U.S. military bullets … and countless young people around the world were forever harmed by these lethal acts. Allison, my sister was shot dead as she protested and stood for peace.

43 years later, there has still never been a credible, independent, impartial investigation into the U.S. government's involvement at Kent State on May 4th because it has been wholly roadblocked by American leadership since the day of the massacre. With the emergence of the new Kent State evidence in 2010, it has become clear that those who ordered and executed the shooting meant to kill the kids at Kent State (and Jackson State) in May 1970. This has set a terrible precedent for the treatment of other American protestors who have been harmed by government security forces since Kent State.

In preparation for the UN Human Rights Committee for the United States’ five-year annual formal human rights review, KSTT submitted questions for the High Commissioner to ask the US questions about Kent State. http://bit.ly/1f2X25i Most notably, we asked when the American leadership will open a credible, independent and impartial investigation into the newly-emerged evidence from the Kent State Strubbe tape. This evidence offers a new view or digital footprint of what occurred on May 4, 1970, recorded on a Kent State student dormitory window ledge. As this bonafide copy of the Kent State Strubbe tape was originally entered into evidence by Arthur Krause, my father, during the Kent State court trials back in the day, the tape recorded evidence is official Kent State evidence. http://bit.ly/RQNUWC

Analyzed for the first time by forensic evidence expert Stuart Allen in 2010, the recorded evidence verified a Kent State order-to-fire and points to U.S. government involvement, along with hard evidence indicating the FBI involvement in the creation of the 'sound of sniper fire.' http://bit.ly/aM7Ocm Listen to the Kent State Tape in this CNN news report ~ http://bit.ly/IGvDUn

When the new Kent State evidence came to the attention of the Obama administration and the U.S. Dept. of Justice in 2010, they firmly refused to examine the evidence or ask forensic evidence expert Stuart Allen a single question about his Kent State analyses. Furthermore, the U.S. Dept. of Justice letters state the F.B.I. admitted to destroying the original Kent State Strubbe tape in 1979. http://bit.ly/IOvOO7

With no other recourse in this U.S. Dept. of Justice refusal, the Kent State Truth Tribunal's only option has been to have Kent State human rights issues heard outside the United States. Thus, in 2011 KSTT sought recognition from the International Criminal Court in the Hague and was denied in 2012.

Going to the United Nations:

Remaining steadfast in seeking attention for the new evidence, in 2013 KSTT learned the United States was scheduled to go before the United Nations Human Rights Committee for the formal human rights review. Early in 2013 KSTT submitted its human rights issues to the UN/HRC. In April, the High Commissioner of the UN/HRC accepted our Kent State questions for the United States to be asked as it prepares to go before the Human Rights Committee at the UN scheduled for October 17th & 18th in Geneva.
