This week is National Farmers Market Week, and Haymaker Farmers Market will celebrate the incredible local food options available in Portage County with a raffle basket fundraiser.

This week is National Farmers Market Week, and Haymaker Farmers Market will celebrate the incredible local food options available in Portage County with a raffle basket fundraiser.

Tickets for a big basket full of locally grown and produced fruits and vegetables, preserves, herbs, perennials, baked goods, cheese, flowers, and more can be purchased for $1, or $5 for an arm's length, any time from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the market table under the bridge Saturday.

The drawing will be held at the end of the market, and the winner will be notified by phone or email (your preference) to pick up their basket of fresh local goodies the following week on Aug. 20.

Funds raised will be used to help defray the cost of transaction fees and monthly program fees for the wireless EBT/credit debit system that is tentatively set to launch in mid-September at the market.

What's in season? peaches, plums, blueberries, blackberries, green beans, yellow wax beans, sweet corn, kale, chard, garlic, onions, potatoes (yellow, red, purple, fingerling), kohlrabi, baby bok choy, broccoli raab, green onions, snow peas, beets, turnips, carrots, eggplant, lettuce, mixed salad greens, arugula, mizuna, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, peppers (sweet and hot), basil, dill, parsley, cilantro, mint, rosemary, thyme, sage, oregano, tarragon, apples, maple syrup, honey, cider.
