Chocolate Dipped Kent

Main Street Kent: chocolate and sunshine make people happy, but so does having an amazing downtown.

I have not seen this town as alive as it was on Saturday, May 12th, during the Main Street Kent Chocolate Walk. Yes, chocolate and sunshine make people happy, but so does having an amazing downtown.

Twenty-two businesses catered to the 100 ticketholders who hopped from business to business, collecting chocolate treats that afternoon. WildEarth Outfitters handed out a nutty, chocolaty energy bar...Tree City Coffee & Pastry had mini chocolate coffee cups filled with some caramel (or mocha - your choice) deliciousness...Taco Tonto's had spicy chocolate brownies...Dr. GreenBee offered chocolate dipped insects! People were collecting their loot, stopping for lunch, shopping, and loving the beautiful day -- and it was awesome.

One store owner reported sales "nearly double" the sales of last year on the Saturday before Mother's Day. The concensus among many business owners: they got to see lots of new faces, whether they've been open for 6 months or 20 years! People who attended the event had a great time, finding stores and eateries they didn't even know were here. So to answer the burning question: yes, of course there will be another one next year. Maybe even sooner.
