Community Corner

National Adoption Day

November 23, 2013 is officially recognized as “National
Adoption Day”.  Organizations throughout
the U.S. come together each year the weekend before Thanksgiving to raise
awareness about adoption.   Locally,
Family and Community Services and the Kent State Newman Center are
co-sponsoring a local event to raise adoption awareness.  Learn more about the countless children who
are denied the right to a permanent family through no fault of their own.  In the U.S. alone, there are over 100,000 children
still in foster care waiting for a forever family.   Learn what we can all do by working
collectively to give these vulnerable children a voice.  Meet and talk with adoptive families,
children who have been adopted and adoption professionals to learn what you can
do to promote and advocate for these children.
Join us from 10 am to 1 p.m. at the Kent State Newman Center on November
23rd.
