Community Corner

Body and Beyond Health Fair

Sponsored by the Northeast Ohio Medical University American Medical
Student Association, the health fair will include health screenings, including
cholesterol, body mass index, blood pressure, blood sugar testing, glaucoma
screening, and heart disease risk assessments as well as presentations on
important health topics such as diabetes, cancer, mental health, nutrition ,exercise,
smoking cessation and more. There will also be a “Kids’ Corner,” dedicated to
children’s activities, including face paintings and games along with safety
education and demonstrations.

This year’s exhibit will feature medication
reviews with pharmacists and pharmacy students, offering all participants the
opportunity to receive individual counseling regarding their prescriptions and
over-the-counter (OTC) medications. Knowledgeable physicians will also be
available to answer health-related questions.

Participants are also encouraged to bring
unused, unwanted or expired medications for safe disposal. This effort is to
support the National Prescription Drug Take-Back initiative, aiming to provide
a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs,
while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of
medications.
