3rd Annual Canton Walk Now For Autism Speaks

This is the 3rd year of the Canton Walk Now for Autism Speaks. Each year we have hosted this event in beautiful Jackson Twp. North Park. The event runs from 8:00 a.m until noon and includes DJ Ben Mathes as the day's MC. Teams comprised of local families and friends as well as many local businesses, converge on the park to enjoy a judgement free day of fun with other families touched by Autism. There is a large kids play area with fun games and crafts for the kids as well as a balloon artist, magician and face painting. The park also boasts an amazing handicap accessible playground for everyone to enjoy. At 10:00 a.m. the families line up to begin the one mile trek through the beautiful park. All the families join together for this special opportunity when they can talk with other families facing the same challenges, experiencing the same joy and navigating the same maze of doctors, therapy, treatments, meltdowns, and anxiety. Individuals form teams with names such as Andrew's Autobots, Tap Autism Out, Warriors for Autism and Willard Walkers. They ask friends, family and co-workers to join their team and help them to raise money for the cause. Some teams have raffles, bake sales, or sell hand made crafts. Other teams sell candy bars. Their common goal is to raise money for Autism Speaks.

To register for a team go to walknowforautismspeaks.org/canton and search for your team! If you're an aviator, from Alliance, or just don't know what team to join, search for and join Aviators for Awareness and come decked out in red and blue. Or create your own team!

Even if you can't participate, feel free to donate!
