'What the Frack?' Forum Sponsored by Kent Environmental Council

Event addresses 'fracking' drilling method and its effect on the environment

The Kent Environmental Council, with the support of Allegheny Energy Solutions and The Concerned Citizens for Safer Drilling, is sponsoring a public forum about the effects of hydraulic fracturing drilling for natural gas.

"What The Frack?" A Public Forum on Safe Drinking Water and Gas/Oil Drilling in Northeast Ohio, is set for Saturday, June 25, from 6 p.m. to 11 at the in downtown Kent.

The forum will include music, food, videos and slide presentations on fracking. A panel discussion will feature water experts and industry representatives and will be followed by a public question-and- answer session.

The event is a potluck and participants are welcome to bring a dish. Potluck and music starts at 6 p.m., video and slide presentations start at 7 p.m. with the panel discussion at 8 p.m. followed by the question and answer session at 8:45 p.m. and music at 9:30 p.m.

The forum is free and open to the public.

Confirmed panelists include Dave Simons of  the Ohio Sierra Club, Bob Heath of the International Association of Great Lakes Research, and Gwen B. Fischer of the Concerned Citizens for Safer Drilling.
