Osama Bin Laden Dead

President Obama announced to the world Sunday night U.S. forces killed the Al Qaeda leader

President Barack Obama announced the death of Osama bin Laden at the hands of U.S. military forces just before midnight Sunday.

During his announcement, broadcast live from the White House, Obama said he gave the go-ahead last week for the operation that led to bin Laden's death.

Obama said no Americans were harmed in the operation despite an initial firefight before U.S. troops on the ground killed bin Laden in a compound in Pakistan. The operation was spurred from a lead on bin Laden's location that came in August 2010.
