The Portage County Sheriff's Office will hold its annual "Cram the Cruiser" holiday drive will be held at the Kent Acme on East Main Street this year.
The event is Saturday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Volunteers from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to collect canned goods, non-perishables, and financial contributions for Kent Social Services of Kent and the Center of Hope of Ravenna. Santa Claus will also be stopping by between noon and 2 p.m. to meet all who donate to the event.
Portage County Sheriff Dave Doak said all canned goods collected at the Thanksgiving event helped provide food baskets for 977 families.
"We have been informed by the social service agencies that they currently have Christmas requests for 1,200 families," Doak said. “I would like to invite all from the Portage County community to stop by to drop off canned goods and non-perishable items for those in need, and at the same time visit with me, Santa Claus and members of my staff.”
