POLL: Pick Kent's Best Live Music Spot

8 live music venues compete for our Reader's Choice Award

It may not be the 1970s, but Kent has an abundance of live music venues throughout the city today.

And you get to pick which one is the best place to hear those unbridled melodies.

Here are your nominees for this week's Reader's Choice poll:

We'll close the poll at 5 p.m. Friday and announce the winner on Saturday.

Voting results posted in real time shall not be deemed official until Patch has reviewed and confirmed all of the votes.

Don't forget Europe Gyro and I am pretty sure JB's still has regular live (very heavy) music...both venues have serious Kent music legacies too from Jessica Lea Mayfield to DEVO...having said that, it's hard to pick just one spot since I have seen extraordinary music in every venue listed

You need more musically educated readers, lol! I just joined today .... Hopefully more will follow :-) JB's has had the likes of Joe Walsh, Devo, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more....

what truly is awesome is that if you were to have asked this question back in 1995 you couldn't have put one of those venues on this list...Kent has done a fantastic job of raising its great music scene from the clutches of death!

What ever happened to Glass Harp? The guy was incredible, but started spending too much time asking about Jesus and testifying and stopped playing. Any one remember? Remember Orville's then Walter"s on Water? A really wonderful dive, full of Kent's most colorful characters. Where is Leppy? and all the incredible life artists that made this place so cool. There was a garage that opened up to reveal a fabulous art space and psychedelic playground there on Water Street, too. Air brush was a new medium and the whole street was alive with creativity. Anybody out there remember this stuff. My are sort of vague, not surprisingly.
