City officials anticipate the new traffic light at the intersection of Haymaker Parkway and Erie Street will come online this month.
The new stop light, which was originally set to start running in June, hangs above two new brick pedestrian crosswalks where Kent State University's Esplanade meets the five-lane road.
Kent City Manager Dave Ruller said recently via email there are too many variables to announce a specific date, but the new light is expected to start running by July's end.
