Kent's annual Festival of Lights will start at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at with a performance by the Theodore Roosevelt High School ACES Choir.
Santa Claus will arrive via locomotive at 6 p.m. to throw the switch and light up downtown Kent for the holidays.
The annual event draws a few hundred families downtown, and organizers encourage visitors to get there early to find a place to park and get in line to see Santa.
Free hot chocolate will be provided at the festival, which is sponsored by the , Main Street Kent, Kent Junior Mothers, Kent Lions, Kent Kiwanis Club and the .
Children also will have access to a letter-writing station, so they can write their Christmas wishes to Santa.
Home Savings Plaza is located at the northwest corner of Main and Water streets in downtown Kent.
