'Envirothon' Trophy Comes to Kent Roosevelt

Traveling Portage County trophy won by Kent team

A team of students at Theodore Roosevelt High School recently topped the Northeast Ohio Envirothon competition at MetroParks Farm in Canfield, OH.

The Roosevelt team proved the highest-placing team from Portage County to earn the trophy, which is sponsored by the Portage Soil & Water Conservation District.

The Envirothon is designed to stimulate, reinforce and enhance interest in the environment and natural resources among high school students. The event tests students' knowledge of soils, forestry, wildlife, aquatic ecology and current environmental issues.

Teams competing from Portage included Ravenna, Southeast, Waterloo and Windham high schools.
