Venice Café to Reopen Friday Under New Ownership

It's crunch time at the Venice Café, where new owner Mike Beder plans to reopen the bar Friday in time for the Kent State Folk Festival Folk Alley 'Round Town night.

Beder bought the bar operation in August from longtime Kent family the Ricciardis with plans to renovate and update the tavern.

The bar will reopen with some limitations. The kitchen will not reopen for several days, and the bar will not open until 7 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday so crews can finish work on the kitchen during the day.

And the nano-brew operation won't be ready to go for Friday.

But the Numbers Band will be, as they're booked to play the bar for Folk Alley night.
