Starbucks to Customers: Leave Guns at Home

Coffee chain CEO makes request, not demand, to keep guns out of stores

Customers of Starbucks have been asked by its CEO to leave their guns at the door before entering the coffee shop or its outdoor patios.

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz posted an open letter to customers on the company's website Tuesday sounding off on the gun debate—in particular how the coffee shop has, in some cases, become a "political stage" over the issue.

The coffee chain has not created an official policy banning guns inside stores, and customers who carry a gun into a Starbucks will not be denied service or asked to leave, NPR reports.
