New Owners Expand Hours at Arctic Squirrel Ice Cream Shop

Owner of downtown tavern gets into the ice cream business

in downtown Kent’s Acorn Alley is under new management as of today.

And the ice cream parlor’s new owners are expanding the hours of operation to better serve the community of Kent.

“We are now open seven days a week (from) 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.,” The Arctic Squirrel co-owner Danielle Urban said. “People can enjoy the same great recipes and flavors of ice cream more days and hours of the week.”

The Arctic Squirrel, an Acorn Alley tenant for three years, was recently bought by Danielle Urban and fellow Portage county native Michael Tribuzzo, who also owns . The Arctic Squirrel will continue to provide Kent with the same premium ice cream created by the original owners.

Urban and Tribuzzo said the biggest change is the hours of operation, as the shop had limited hours previously.

“The Arctic Squirrel is one of many tasty places to visit in Acorn Alley,” Urban said. “I look forward to scooping up fun for Kent residents and visitors all year long.”

The Arctic Squirrel is located off East Main Street, a few doors down from Standing Rock Jewelers and Off the Wagon. The ice cream parlor customizes more than 10 unique flavors of hard ice cream and homemade waffle cones.

Organic bananas are a new addition to the steadfast favorites. The Arctic Squirrel also offers sundaes, shakes, malt, smoothies and local handmade chocolates. “Birthday parties, sports teams and group events are always
welcome,” Urban said.
