Kent Firm to Buy Former AMETEK Complex on Lake Street

City to sell close to 15-acre site for $120,000

The city of Kent plans to sell the vacant former AMETEK manufacturing complex on Lake Street to Kent firm Smithers-Oasis, Recordpub.com reports.

Smithers-Oasis is in the midst of a growth period, as the company recently expanded its Marvin Street facility and is relocating its corporate headquarters to downtown Kent.

The city bought the site from AMETEK in 2011 to aid in the firm's move downtown and has received $1 million in state money to rid the site former manufacturing site, which dates to 1920, of contaminants.
