Laziza Still Awaiting Phone, Internet Hookups

Wondering what's on the menu? Kent Patch is your exclusive online source (for now, at least).

Kent Patch readers are asking: What's 's phone number? What are the new restaurant's hours? Is there a takeout menu online somewhere?

Gina Tringhese said the is also getting calls about contact information for the II anchor tenant.

Kent Patch has the answers – and – posted here!

Michelle Hartman, vice president of RLB Phoenix Properties, developer of Acorn Alley, said there have been delays in the installation of phone and internet lines.

"We're still waiting for AT&T to finish their site work. Hopefully they’ll get that squared away this week," she said.

It can't happen soon enough for Laziza owners Michael and Nicole Awad. Michael said he's heard the lines could be operational by this Friday.

"We're still in our soft-opening phase. The phone lines aren't in and the website is still under development," he explained. "Until then, people will have to come in if they want to make reservations or book parties."

Walk-ins are welcome, but they may need to relax at the bar for a bit, depending on what time of day they arrive.

"We're swamped – people can expect a wait," Awad said apologetically during a lull between lunch and dinner Tuesday. He was using the downtime for some high-speed multi-tasking that involved several trips up and down the stairs of the two-story restaurant.

Laziza, which serves steaks and seafood in addition to its Mediterranean specialties, had 268 patons on opening day last Thursday. On Friday that number jumped to 360, followed on Saturday by 400 diners. Awad is thrilled by those stats.

And patrons also appear to be quite pleased.

After shared about Laziza on its Facebook page Saturday, Kent City Councilman Jack Amhrein said that he and wife Claudia "went Friday night and loved it!!!"

, an Acorn Alley II neighbor of Laziza, replied to the Main Street Kent post, "I've had lunch at Laziza twice already and its awesome!."

Marilyn Sessions, human resource and training officer at , wrote, "Was there last night with Fialas, great place, wonderful service, wonderful food and simply BEAUTIFUL!"

The Fialas she was referring to included Mayor Jerry Fiala, who wrote in another Facebook post that it was his second time eating at Laziza.

Bob and Cass Mayfield, owners of , wrote on their company's Facebook page, "... Very nice space, the food and service was top notch. We will be back."

Hours

Laziza's hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and 4 to 11 p.m. Saturdays. Awad said the restaurant is currently closed on Sundays, but that's a seasonal thing that will likely change once can be used.

Contact information

Here's the restraurant's contact info – but don't forget that none of it will be operational until Friday at the earliest:

  • Phone: 330-677-7000
  • Fax: 330-677-8600
  • Website: www.yourlaziza.com

The menu

Like the menu at the Awads' other Kent eatery, ? A number of customer favorites from that restaurant are on the Laziza menu, along with many creative new offerings.

All four pages of Laziza's menu accompany this story as pdfs. Awad said everything on the menu can be ordered for takeout.

Luck with AT&T. We had opened a shop in the Hartville market place. It had taken 4 weeks via att to get the phone hooked up. Even though the lines we good at the market place. After 3 people came to hook up finaly got the phone. Computer line it took 3 months. They sent god only knows how many people over. We phoned att many times trying to get it straighten out. Finaly found out some dim wit had the time set too hook up in the year 2036. This was two years ago. Any way finaly it was resolved. Kind of sort of. Found out later att had charged us for the calls we made to them as long distance charges. Over $300.00 Need less to say told them to cram it. Still fighting about it. Canceled all att here at home. Sons and all relitaves, Friends etc have done the same. Really a mess. Now there messing with our credit scores. Never ever go with att for any reason. You will be sorry.

had dinner there this week and it was good. the only gripe our party had was the lighting. seemed the lights were on full blast. dimming them a bit especially for dinner hours would improve the ambiance.

Just came back from having a wonderful dinner with my BW at Laziza. The food is excellent, the lighting is just fine and the service is prompt and friendly. This restaurant is a great addition to our fair city. Four stars.

Yep, 12 years ago when we cancelled our AT&T cell phone contract (as per our contractual rights) in writing and had proof, we were charged with early cancellation fines and the balance of our contract. I spent 9 months calling throughout the AT&T "service" hierarchy to resolve the situation. Finally, the highest supervisor to whom I had access said, "Mam, you will pay this bill because if you don't we'll ruin your credit just because we can." I certainly wish I had been recording that conversation!
