Davey Tree is Fourth Largest Employee-Owned Firm in U.S.

National Center for Employee Ownership ranking is based on number of employees, which for Davey is 7,400.

The , headquartered in Kent, has been ranked the fourth-largest 100 percent employee-owned company in the U.S., according to the National Center for Employee Ownership.

The rankings are based on total number of employees, and Davey’s 7,400 employees throughout North America placed it high on the list.

“Employee ownership at Davey has been a tradition for more than 30 years, and it is an essential piece of our company’s success,” said Karl Warnke, Davey’s chairman, president and CEO. “Even more importantly, our commitment to employee ownership serves as a catalyst for Davey’s future endeavors and growth.”

The list includes the nation’s largest companies that are at least 50 percent owned by an Employee Stock Ownership Plan or other broad-based employee-ownership plan. Davey ranks 18th among all companies with at least 50 percent employee ownership.

Companies on the list employ 687,000 people worldwide, up from 614,000 last year. The largest company on the list employs 152,000 workers, while the smallest employs 1,100.
