AMETEK Gets 'Key' to New Downtown Offices at Kent State Home Opener
Firm sponsored fireworks that capped a day spent celebrating downtown redevelopment
Two of the big players in downtown Kent's redevelopment got a brief moment on the field at Thursday night's football home opener against Towson University.
Representatives from AMETEK, one of two corporate anchor tenants downtown, and Fairmount Properties, the Cleveland developer building three new buildings downtown, took to the field for a symbolic exchange of keys to AMETEK's new offices on Erie Street.
Randy Ruttenberg, a principle at Fairmount, presented AMETEK Vice President Matt French with a key to the at the corner of Erie and South Water streets on the Golden Flashes goal line inside Dix Stadium.

Both Fairmount and AMETEK sponsored a prior to the game and a more than $25,000 fireworks display that followed the home opener.
The fireworks display, which featured 7,500 rockets and was put on by American Fireworks from Hudson, OH, is reportedly the largest ever held in Portage County.

The new AMETEK building is one of several projects under construction as part of downtown Kent's more than $100 million redevelopment.
