Full, 'Pink Moon' Rises over Kent's Downtown

The Pufferbelly basks in its 1,644th full moon.

A full moon, plus clear skies, means it's a good time to catch the orb as it rises.

I heard from three people that Friday night's full moon is known as the pink moon, but it didn't look any pinker than any other full moon. It so happens that "pink" doesn't refer to the color of the moon, but the "moss pink" herb. It's one of the earliest blooming flowers, also known as wild ground phlox. I've never seen phlox out before spring beauties or bluets, but let's not ruin a good moon name with facts.
