Annual Jawbone Gathering of Poets

Poets from around the country head to Kent on the first weekend of May.

The Jawbone Gathering of Poets convened at the clanging of bells by Jeff Ingram on Friday night at Last Exit Books.  The informal gathering allows poets to read a poem, original or otherwise, to the group.  Funny to heartfelt works were read by beginners to seasoned artists at the venue, where all were encouraged and applauded in a welcoming environment.  After four hours of reading Friday night, the group reconvened on Saturday at Tannery Park for more reading.  Sunday was the last meeting at Standing Rock Cultural Arts Center where the readings were concluded for this year.
