October Is Here And So Am I!

As I approach my five year mark the fear factor is setting in. I would prefer it to be the Xfactor as I would get my chance to Make Simon smile! The fear factor is real though, it is like the perpetual boogie man that never leaves your closet, even if you're in your 40's! What could we accomplish in five years besides getting off of our Arimadex or Tamoxafin? Well, we could have a car fully paid for, we could be out of college for a year already! We could have a child starting kindergarten, and we could have traveled the world. In many ways we have travelled the world. Look how many of us can walk the walk and talk the talk! I bet if a newly diagnosed patient were to speak with me, she would have no idea that DR. didn't come before my name! Look how much we learned on our trip through cancer, yours may have been a journey, but mine was like a bad trip! My wig got lice, I rejected my port and was told "Apparently Beth, your body doesn't like foreign objects" Really doc?, want to run a Latin lover by me and let me be the judge of that? If you don't keep a sense of humor, things begin to unravel rather quickly! One day while I was in chemo, a very nice man asked me out....wow, it only took getting cancer to be "hot" again! And speaking of hot, I can't even be hot in menopause! I walk around freezing all day! And to those that say "cancer was a gift", I say I wish mine came with a gift receipt! And to those that tell me to fight like a girl.... I will, what does that even mean? As the rest of you strive for five, and those that are beyond five, I am personally raising my hand to all of you giving each and every one of you a high five! Yes, we are in it to win it....together! Don't make October about Pink, make it all about awareness, get the word out, any way you can! Until next time, Beth
