Renowned Kent State Photographer Subject of Photo Exhibit

Pieces from Gary Harwood's 30-year career behind the lens will be on display in Canton Friday

Renowned Kent State University photographer Gary Harwood, perhaps best known for co-authoring the book Growing Season: The Life of a Migrant Community, will be the subject of a photo gallery exhibit opening Friday afternoon.

The Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography, in Canton, will display some of Harwood's most interesting images starting Friday and running through May 21.

The gallery opening Friday, from 5:30 p.m. to 9, will include a book signing for Growing Season.

"The exhibit is a collection of my best images taken over 30 years as a photographer," Harwood said in a prepared statement.

The reception will take place during the monthly “Canton First Friday” arts event. The monthly event gives art fans an opportunity to visit other art galleries and area restaurants in Canton.
