Public Invited to Guest Lectures by Two Prominent Artists

One artist is a sculptor and the other guest is a printmaker.

Two artists will be available Thursday and Saturday this week for a free and public lectures on art as part of Kent State University's College of Arts public lecture series.

On May 23, sculptor Michelle Lopez will speak to an audience and on May 25 printmaker Stefan Hoffmann will be featured. Both lectures are at 6 p.m. in room 202 of the Art Building on Kent State University's main campus.

Lopez creates sculptures from a variety of materials and surfaces, including industrial aluminum sheeting and grip tape, as well as more organic items like tree limbs and leather, according to a prepared statement. Click here for more information.

Hoffman, a printmaker from the Netherlands, creates site-specific wall and window installations with a focus on screen-printing techniques. He received his bachelor’s degree from ArtEZ Academy of Art and Design Arnhem and his master’s from Jan van Eyck Academy, Maastricht, according to a press release.

Hoffman has held solo and group exhibitions across Europe and North America, including shows at Rankin Christian Center in Pittsburgh, a wall printing at the Duke University Perkins Library and a wall/window printing at CBK Amsterdam. Click here for more information on Hoffman.

Kent State’s College of the Arts Public Lecture Series gives the general public an opportunity to hear from the top artists in the fields of painting, sculpture, printmaking and ceramics. The Kent/Blossom Art program also includes two-week intensive workshops in these areas of study, available at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
