Mysterious Painting Left at Kent Library

The rightful owner or artist can contact the library if they want it returned

A mysterious painting showed up at the earlier this month to the consternation of library employees.

Kent Free Library Director Stacey Richardson said they found the painting, about 4 feet tall and 5 feet wide, leaning against the West Main Street entrance of the library one morning.

Richardson said there was no note or explanation, and there is no signature on the front or back of the painting.

She guessed that perhaps someone had it with them while trying to board a bus at the stop in front of the library but couldn't fit it on the bus. They don't know if it was meant as a donation or was left there out of necessity. It's been leaning against a blank wall in her third-floor office for safekeeping since then.

Richardson said they will gladly return it to the rightful owner, but if no one claims the painting it may find a home on a library wall.
