Wood Choppers Ball

Every December some of the best acoustic guitarists in the world gather together at the historic 650 seat theater "The Kent Stage" in Kent Ohio www.kentstage.org, for a concert called "The Woodchoppers Ball" to benefit The Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless.

2009 marked the concerts 9th year in a row and December 3rd 2011 will be the events 11 year anniversery!!!**** Currently the concert is set up three sets of three guitarists, playing round robin, each player taking turns playing a song till everyone has played a total of four each. This is 9 great acoustic guitarists surrounded by their peers playing their VERY best material at their VERY best!! This makes for a truely awe inspiring show for the audience, an amazing amount of fun and comraderie for the guitarists and all for a really great cause!!**** In 2007 "The Woodchoppers Ball" double CD compilation featuring 26 different guitarists who all donated one song each was released. The guitarists on disc 1 are: Charely Brown, Michael Kelsey, Antoine DuFour, Andy McKee, Don Ross, Patrick Woods, Acoustica, Neil Jacobs, Ryan Anderson, Jim Volk, Doug Smith, Pete Huttlinger, and Brian Henke. Disc 2 features: Jason Dennie, David Mayfield, Robin Kessinger, Todd Hallawell, David Gillis, Kev (Kev Rones) Stephen Bennett, Kerry Kean, Jon Mosey, Bill Dutcher, Jim Earp, John Doan and Alex Bevan. It's available at www.cdbaby.com**** 2009's show featured : Tim Thompson, Kyle Reeder, Greg Gilbertson, Helen Avakian, Stephanie Jackson, Brian Henke, Eric Wilson, Dale Galgozy, Adreanne Zeleny, was as always, hosted by the venerable Charley Brown and was held Saturday December 12th at 7PM at the Kent Stage at 175 East Main Street, Kent, Ohio 44240.
