The Ravenna Merchants Association affiliate of the Ravenna Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring SummerFest 2011 from 10:00am – 4:00pm on Saturday, June 18 downtown Ravenna.
Opening Ceremony will include Linda Pierson singing the National Anthem. Main Street in downtown Ravenna will turned into a street filled with entertainment on Saturday. Be sure to bring your own lawn chairs, sit awhile as you enjoy a fun filled day. Food and treats will be available throughout the day. An information table will be set up on the courthouse lawn where visitors can pick up fliers with details regarding the Ravenna SummerFest events of the day.
Entertainment for the day will include music by Cipriano Productions, a magician, authentic Indian teepee, miniature ponies, Ravenna Youth Council face painting and performances by Global Martial Arts, Disaster Command/Communication Center, Ohio National Guard tank, Search and Rescue Dogs, Ravenna Police Dept and the Ravenna Fire Dept.

Joe Mazzola is organizing the Ravenna SummerFest Car Show, which will be displayed on Main Street, which will be closed to through traffic. Ravenna Guido’s and the Ravenna Home Savings Bank are sponsoring this event. The cost to participate in the car show is $5 per car. Registration begins at 9am. Drivers will be awarded trophies including Best of Show Stock and Best of Show Modified.
Participating merchants will hold sidewalk sales or hang signs in their windows to participate. Many of the merchants will set on the streets while others will have tables in front of their stores. The courthouse lawn will host area non-profit organizations including Love on a Leash, the Ravenna Balloon A-Fair, the Ravenna Chamber of Commerce, and the Ravenna Merchants Association.

Community members are invited to participate in the sidewalk sale by selling crafts or yard sale items. A space can be rented for $20.00. Participates must register and provide own tables and chairs. To register for space, contract Barb House of Holiday Ornaments at 330-297-6684 or Susan, Susie K’s Cafe at 330-296-3779 by Monday, June 4.
Held in conjunction will be the Marlene Watt Memorial Race 8:00am at the Ravenna High School 6589 North Chestnut Street. Proceeds from this event will support the Ravenna Parks and Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund to allow underprivileged youth in Ravenna the opportunity to participate in Ravenna Parks and Recreation sports/programs.
