Exhibit Reception: African American Icons at KSU

The African American Icons at KSU exhibit is moving from the University Library to Oscar Ritchie Hall. Join us at the opening reception as we celebrate a stunning visual display of authentic images and photographs detailing and celebrating the great African American icons who visited and performed on Kent's campus throughout history. The exhibit and reception are co-sponsored by Pan-African Studies and University Libraries.

Exhibit curator: Jason Prufer

About the exhibit:

During the Vietnam War era, Kent State had several thriving artist lecture series that were on par with Berkeley, NYU and the greatest universities in the country. These series are notable for bringing a dense array of prodigious musicians, artists, poets and politicians to KSU. One common thread in this period is the list of appearances by some of the most prolific and influential African Americans of the second half of the 20th Century.
