About the Artwork:

Justin and Rebecca Steele met in a local art gallery in the fall of 2008. Through several art collaborations, the concept of “Double Take” was formed. The idea that two
individuals could approach identical subject matter with completely different results is not a new one, but Justin and Rebecca felt it was worth exploring as cohabitating artists. Justin’s approach to each subject was focused on detail, while Rebecca’s approach was to stand back and translate the bigger picture.

Some of the pieces in “Double Take” are an artist’s response to their mate’s existing works of art, exploring another interesting aspect of artists that live and work
together. Having access to and seeing each other’s work on a daily basis, one might be drawn into a particular piece and wonder if there was more to the story. This show
allowed each to express those possibilities.

About The Artists:

Justin Steele lives, works and creates in the Akron area. His art is heavily influenced by childhood memories and experiences. He continually experiments with new materials
and methods for creating both 2 and 3 dimensional works. He has been selling and showing his art locally for almost 10 years, and has been a member of Artists of Rubber
City and artists collective, Apollonova.

Rebecca Steele, formerly Rebecca Urbanski, has been showing her work locally since 2007. She has participated in several group exhibitions in the Akron and Cleveland areas and recently had her first solo show. Her medium of choice is acrylic on canvas. Her subject matter ranges from figurative to slightly architectural. You can see more of her
work at rebeccaurbanski.com.
