Thousands Already Raised for Marino Family Online

A friend is hoping to raise at least $5,000 to help with funeral costs.

A friend started an online fundraiser Monday for the family of a Kent State Student who died in a car crash on Easter Sunday. 

Kent State Student Joseph "JJ" Marino died on Sunday in Alabama after suffering injuries from a car crash Saturday driving back from a spring break trip with four others.

The goal is to raise $5,000 to help with funeral costs. At 1 p.m. Monday, more than $4,000 was donated on GiveForward.com

According to the note on the site, any additional money raised after the $5,000 goal is met will go to a charity that the Marino family chooses.
