Plans for Sunrise Apartments Project Delayed

Developer asked for delay in presenting plans for 612-bed apartment complex

Plans for razing and rebuilding the Sunrise Apartments complex on Rhodes Road have been delayed until May.

Columbus developer Hallmark Campus Communities tabled plans for their 612-bed apartment complex proposal, which were scheduled to be presented to the Kent Planning Commission Tuesday night, until the board's meeting next month.

The developer did not give a reason for requesting the delay.

The plans, which double the number of existing units on the site from 100 to 200, were presented to the commission earlier this month to gain feedback from the commission members and the public.

At that meeting, because the expanded project increases the percentage of pavement and decreases green space on the property.

The issue is rescheduled for the commission's May 3 meeting.
